Introducing the Cookbook and Journal of the Privateer Sea Serpent.
It is the summer of 1715 and a young man sits drinking an ale at the Drifting Dragon Inne, a pub on the coast of England. He fills his clay pipe and looks back over the day - he's lost his position, again. He should not have disagreed with the Lady of the Manor, he knew better, yet he could not bring himself to prepare the dishes she demanded. She had no imagination.
As the evening lengthened and mug after mug of ale was consumed, he found himself speaking to the captain of a ship who was coincidentally looking for a cook on the Sea Serpent. His mind muddled by ale and yet he still knew that positions were difficult to come by even if you had sterling references and he acknowledged that his references were less than stellar and his references were sadly lacking.
Although he had no experience on the sea, he knew how to cook. He could learn, he would learn. What choice did he have, really.
After some discussion he signed the document the captain slid before him and promised to be at the dock before the tide turned the next day.
So begin the adventures of the Cook on the Privateer Sea Serpent.
Follow the Sea Serpent as she plies her trade in the Caribbean while the cook gathers recipes from exotic islands using new fruits, vegetables and spices. Meet the officers, crew and powder monkeys as he learns the ways of the sea from those more seasoned. The crew share stories, insights and recipes from their homelands - from Europe to the British Isles.
Fair Winds and Calm Seas to you All!
